KING GEORGE RECREATION - BUSHEY
King George Avenue, Chiltern Avenue, Bushey. Herts
Bushey’s principal park is the King George, which boasts a wide variety of activities for visitors to enjoy. During the summer, children are able to make a splash in the paddling pools, and let off some energy in the play park. There is a comprehensive programme of events held in the park every year. These include a funfair, teddy bears picnic, dog show, and jazz in the park. King George Park has recently introduced art into the park in the form of natural sculptures. Picnic area, children’s play area, paddling pool, sand pit, toilets, open grassland, multi-sports area, tennis courts, sculptures, café.
FASSNIDGE PARK
Rockingham Parade, Uxbridge, Middlesex
Fassnidge Park is a popular site situated in the heart of Uxbridge. It is a traditional Edwardian formal Park which covers four acres and offers a bowling green, tennis courts, playground and skate park. It also provides horticultural interest, with features including shrub beds, ornamental planting and mature trees.The bandstand and children's play area have been refurbished and new features include a kiosk and water play feature.
BENTELY PRIORY NATURE RESERVE - STANMORE
Old Lodge Way, Stanmore
This park offers a great area to get away for many occasions. In the center of the park is Summerhouse Lake with ducks and swans gracing the water. The southern end of the park is predominately open fields and the northern half is forested. Throughout the reserve are gates that are designed to not allow cattle to pass through as during certain times of year sheep and cows use some of the areas.
HAREFIELD VILLAGE GREEN
Harefield Village Green, Rickmansworth Road, Harefield, Middlesex
This historic green is located in the heart of Harefield Village conservation area. It covers four and a half acres and has been a registered common since 1813.
It provides a small children's playground and areas of open space which are used for informal recreation and events. A pond also present provides wildlife interest and the war memorial and 'globe' (see picture below) provide other interest.
FRYENT COUNTRY PARK - BRENT
Freyant Way, Kingsbury
Brent’s Fryent Country Park is 103 hectares of traditional countryside. This vast woodland is surrounded by suburbia, and bisected through the middle by Fryent Way. It is a beautiful open space, perfect for long, country walks. It hosts a number of delightful walking trails for all generations to enjoy, and take in the magnificent scenery. A small section of the park is licensed for ponies to graze on.
